Buffalo Bill Dam

August, 1, 2010

First things first! Happy Birthday Mom! Hope its a good one!

Today is a travel day - I hate travel days! We are leaving Cody, WY and heading towards Sturgis, SD. Its about 360 miles so we will break it in half and stop today in a town called Buffalo, WY.

Yesterday we visited Buffalo Bill's Dam. It is little compared to the previous dams we have toured. At the time - 1905-1910 - it was the biggest and highest dam in the world. It took 3 different construction crews - all who went broke building it - to finish it. They had horrible weather conditions. It was 16 degrees below in the winter and constant flooding in the spring.

It is still functional today and helps provide water to the entire state. Water is such a precious commodity out west.

After the dam tour we walked downtown and visited almost every shop there is. Yes, Tommy went with me. AND on top of that, I didn't buy anything. Nada!Thats the thing about living in an RV, you can only take so much with you...

Oh, and even after our wonderful dinner last night in which I became extremly drunk off of just one margarita, I was up before sunrise today.

Thanks for reading, have a great Sunday.
