Catch up!

Monday August 23, 2010

FINALLY we have Internet. We are in Leadville, CO. Small little town. Very very old. It was built in the early 1800's. We cant wait to explore it. Ill post pictures on another blog.

This blog has to cover the past 11 days.....yikes!

Since we left Sturgis, SD we have been in Steamboat Springs, CO. We have friends, Jeff and Nancy, who live in Stuart, FL that were out there visiting their friends, Mark and Susie. Since we were only  120 miles away we decided to meet up with them.

We planned on staying one, maybe two nights, but even after Jeff and Nance left for home, we stayed longer.

Steamboat Springs is the kind of little town that you just want to raise your kids in. It is small, but not too small. It has museums, all kinds of art, beautiful, beautiful mountains, natural hot springs, skiing in the winter, free concerts in the summer....its endless.

The towns people are incredibly nice. It has no attitude what so ever! I mean, you cant piss people off if you try! We stayed there 11 days and were actually sad to leave this morning. But we know we will be back. Tommy has the name and number of a realtor.

While we were there we went to Strawberry Hot Springs. It is a natural spring from deep within the earth. There are 4 pools that the water spills into. The first one being the hottest. The second one being a little cooler, the third one - wonderful - and the last one - freezing cold.We all walked out of there totally relaxed as if we spent the day at the spa.

We saw bands play for free on two different Friday nights. We tubed down the Yampa River. We drank ice cold Corona's along the water. We toured the ski resort area and took a ride up the gondola to the top of the mountain. (Very scary!). We went to an artsy fartsy festival. We ate at a couple of great restaurants. We hit the local bars up in the mountains and off the beaten path. We had the best time.

Mark and Susie have a log cabin in Clark, which is just up the road from town. That is where we parked the RV. They are building a log garage and we got to help them put on two layers. It was so interesting - taking trees from upright to the mill, sawing them, placing them, drilling them, insulating them and building this. We had a lot of fun.

We left there now having a new set of friends, that because of Jeff and Nancy, we want to come back as soon as possible.

The pictures I post here will probably be a mixture of things. I cannot remember all that we did and probably wont until I upload them, so bear with me.

Thanks for reading and sorry it took so long, ill do better next time. Oh, and I totally caved...I got a haircut!!!
